Redesigned 2020 CR-V with revised styling and lots of tech features

Honda Motor Co. Africa and Middle East has announced the start of sales of the redesigned 2020 CR-V with the upgrades including not only new looks but lots of new technology and kit too.

Available in four grades (DX and LX in two-wheel Drive, and EX and Touring in all-wheel drive), the new CR-V features a new exterior design, new set of new 18in alloy wheels and several new exterior colours - Sonic Gray Pearl, Radiant Red Metallic, and Passion Red Pearl.

The now more upscale and distinctive presence is courtesy of a new blacked out bumper and front grille and broad new openings for the fog lights while the headlights are more aggressively styled and are surrounded by wing shaped LED Day Time Running Lights (DRL) on all grades. Around the back it gets dark-tinted taillight lenses.

As for the interior, the centre console is redesigned with more flexible storage options, while the Touring grade now comes with a Wireless Cell phone charger that provides a hassle-free charging zone that’s easy to access and use. Other technologies include a colour TFT driver information interface (DII) center meter display, and while the DX and LX grades have a 5.0-in Colour Screen Audio the EX and Touring grades have a 7.0in touchscreen Display Audio interface as well as an available Navigation system and is compatible with Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto platform giving customers seamless integration of key smartphone features and functions, including smartphone powered GPS navigation and voice-controlled search capabilities.

Some of the key comfort and convenience features includes remote engine start LX onwards, Dual-Zone climate control in the EX grade and an i-Dual Zone climate control in the Touring grade, rear a/c ducts on all grades, an Electric Parking Brake (EPB), rear USB charging ports, front passenger seat with 4-way power adjustment and driver’s seat with 8-way power adjustment and power lumbar support in the Touring Grade.

One of the new convenience features in the 2020 CR-V is the addition of the Hands-Free Access Power Tailgate with adjustable height feature standard in the EX and the Touring grade. This feature allows you to open and close the tailgate with a simple kick action under the rear bumper when your hands are full. Also, in the EX and Touring Grade we have the steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters by which you can change gears with the simple click.

The 2020 CR-V utilizes Honda's next-generation Advanced Compatibility Engineering (ACE) body structure and other Honda active-safety features include Front Air Bags standard in all Grades, Side and Side Curtain Air Bags in the Touring Grade, Electronic Brake Booster (EBB), Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) with Traction Control Systems (TCS), Anti-Lock Brake Systems (ABS), Electronic Brake Distributor (EBD), Agile Handling Assist, Tire Pressure Monitor System(TPMS), Brake Over Ride System and Hill Start Assist (HSA). Rear Parking Sensors are present in LX and EX grades and the Touring Grade now comes with Front and Rear Parking Sensors.

Power comes from a 2.4-litre DOHC, direct injected i-VTEC engine that is mated to a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with Honda G-Shift control logic. The 2.4-liter engine generates 184-horsepower and a torque of 244Nm. The fuel consumption statistics of the CR-V are 15.5km/L for the DX and LX grades and 14.7km/L for the EX and Touring grades.
